FICTION

Susan writes fiction and poetry. She has a draft in a drawer, a work in progress on her laptop and the outline of her next novel in her head. She writes novels, short stories and poetry with a focus on the connections between people and places.

SHORTLISTED EMERGING WRITER AWARD

Susan was shortlisted for the 2019 Emerging Writer Award run by Moniack Mhor in partnership with The Bridge Award with an extract from her novel set in post war Berlin.

POETRY AND FICTION

Susan’s poetry has been published in Northwords Now and in the The Darg, a poetry anthology published by Poets Republic in 2019 to celebrate the life of Hamish Henderson.

Susan’s short story, The Disappearance, was published by Portobello Book Festival in an anthology to celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2018.

CHAIRING AND MEMBERSHIPS

Susan has chaired events for over ten years at the Edinburgh International Book Festival – over 60 authors and illustrators for children and young people.

She is chair of Craigmillar Literacy Trust which aims to empower children, young people and families through literacy in the community of Craigmillar, Edinburgh.

Susan is a member of SCWBI, the Society of Authors and Scottish PEN.
